This HDD purchased AUG 2009. first fail after 3 months I reloaded WinXp Ok.

Know failed again I contacted the Seagate Web site and ran SeaTools:-

1) Smart Fail
2) Short DST fail
3) Long DST fail

HDD is mounted horizontal in a tower and well cooled.
Problem escalated to Seagate Support.

If you are just thinking about continue using the drive, then RMA it!!!!!

If you need data on the drive, then send it in to the data recovery company. They should be able to pull your data.
