Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hello,
I have a couple of second hand Maxtor ATA HDD (<500Gb each) and I did a "fasterase" on them to recycle them. Non of them required a password under MHDD. I simply press enter when prompted for a password. However, after using HDDERASE, a mistake on my part, on one of those drives, MHDD will now REQUIRE me to enter "idrive" as the password. HDDERASE somehow arbitrarily set one of my Maxtor drive password to "idrive". How do I set it back to simply hitting "Enter". MHDD does not allow the password to simply be "blank". I do not want to one day forget the password, I simply do not want it to have a password. I wish it to be the factory default of not having a password, rather than "idrive".
thanx..
