Hi
I have the same drive and I have a problem!
The drive showing 0KB, and it starts up, motor spins, and then 1 Click and then noise, and then motor spins down..
I cannot format it, nor read it?
What to do?

Two choices on this one. Seems you do nto want data if you want to format it. Check to see if you can RAM the drive or buy a new one that is not WD.

Yes data can be recovered but not by DIY means which means you will not be able to do this one on your own. This on a lot of WD drives is head issue where 0MB shows up, drive click, spins up and stops. The drive can not read readiness and is stuck from head isues. So like I said your options are 1. check to see if you can RMA the HDD, 2. Buy a new HDD that is not WD, 3. Take it in to a DR shop for them to give you an estimate on it. 4. Ask if anyone here is in your area and we can have you send the drive to them. But head swap on WD require tool, a good working knowledge of this drive, and a lot of knowledge on how to align the heads after they have been changed out. Tools meaning people have to invest at least for starters on this one around 10.000 + dollars. These tools allow us to work in a reserved area on the drive called the service area to see if anything in the start up of the drive is damaged or broken, it allows us to work with heads and all kinds of other issues. Knowledge meand years of research and working with these drives to understand how they operate and to be able to fix them and get off data. So now the choice is yours on this one.

If the idea is DIY it's game over, to me, unless you have the proper tools. There's little to do.

In a nutshell you have the tool (SD) but don't know how to use it or you are unable to pinpoint your specific problem? P.s. Start another thread instead of attaching to existing one, to avoid confusion...
