Failed windows XP install, Hard drive not formatting

April 16th, 2010, 16:39

Hi, I tried installing windows XP through the boot up disk provided by Dell. However during the formatting stage, the progress bar was stuck at 55% for half an hour and I manually restarted the machine, however now when I go through the installation process again, the hard disk is not accessible. There is an error message which the setup is stuck at... "Examining 70000MB disk.." but is not finding anything. Any help to resolve this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Prem

Bad hard disk. Have it RMA'd or replace if out of warranty.

If the data is not an issue, RMA the drive while you can!

Get a new HDD and start over. RMA the drive and get rid of it.
