Dear hddguru.com friends

looks like that there are some issues out there with the 7200.12 serie, specific issue are reported for the ST31000528AS

have you ever tried searching google for this st31000528AS problem, you will be surprised on the results amount...

drives dead after 3 hours use, not seen anymore by bios, smart errors, smart warnings and so on.

Is it a new 7200.11 tragedy?

Thank you for any report.

Ti sei chiesto dove erano montati e qual'era l'applicazione in genere di quei 7200.12 ? Io mi sono fatto la domanda e dato anche la risposta....

Did you ask where those 7200.12 were and their application (mostly) ? I asked it myself and also gave the answer

I'm in touch with one hw/sw distributor and with one big hw/sw reseller. Both of them reported me an incredible failure ratio of ST31000528AS with firmware CC34, most of them not seen by BIOS anymore.

And again if you do the google research linked above.. you'll see.

I'm going to receive one of them. Described symptoms are the same as the 7200.11.

If it is not a similar bug, at least looks like to be some kind of firmware damage or failure.

About this, if I understood correctly, there are other firmware releases for that drive, and if this is correct: why have them been released?

Sounds that some kind of issue is present in the CC34.

Don't you think?
