Hitachi Hard drive password locked

May 5th, 2010, 4:08

Good Day to all

I have a Dell M6o laptop on startup the pc prompts for a hard drive password. I do not know the password as i never selected a password. I went in to the bios and seen the hdd password enabled but it is greyed out so I can not edit it.

I then tried a different hard drive in the lap top and that works 100%.

So then I tried to put the password hard drive as a external drive, The pc shows that it picks up a mass storage divice but can not see it in my computer, So I went to disk managment and found that the hard drive was offline and there is no drive letter selected to it. I tried to select a drive letter to it but all the options are greyed out.

All i want to do is format the drive so it can be accesible again.

Please advise o how to get the drive to work again

Thanking you in advance

For a known password there are many tools available to help, but if password is unknown then without specialist tools or profesional assistance there is not much you can do to remove it.

Is there any way to forma the drive. I found a software on the net called hdd unlock wizard but not sure if it works as you have to pay according to how big the hard drive is.

It works if your drive is on the support list.
Yes you have to pay.
