Can anyone please advise how the determine the family for firmware upgrade of Maxtor Drives,

Provide a full model number for your Maxtor drive.
Old Maxtor drives don't have any FW updates.

Actually my question is how to determine the family of maxtor drive e.g Calipso, Grizzly, ROMULUS, I hope it will be clear now.

EYES. Look at the WHITE writing on GREEN background , you just need to flip a drive upside down and using EYES.... you'll identify it.

In a few words : take a look at the PCB and silkscreen :D

You will find something like that ( CALYPSO III - POKER - SABRE - BLUE FISH and so on )
