Is there such a file backup and recovery software ???

I have played with this software called WinHex.

1) Basically I copy file A to hard disk A
2) I examine file A with the sector editor
3) I note down file A's start sector and end sector
4) I also note down file A's size in bytes

Now I delete file A

in WinHex I sector edit the hard disk

1) I define the start sector of the file to recover
2) I define the end sector of the file to recover
3) I write the file to disk ... in doing so do a full recovery of file A

All these steps are simple enough ... but my question is this - Is there such a software on the market that can to such a backup for me ???

that is - the software backs up the file's start sector and end sector and size ... and provides the ability to recover the file as well ???

Perhaps someone has came across such a program before ???

Why would you want to? It would just make more sense to backup the files. Your method works when a file is not fragmented, but if the file is actively used and growing, like an outlook PST file, it will not work. If I were to approach this, I'd start by using the MFT.
