This could be several things. One could be you have a windows problem in your OS maybe caused by virus. You also could have some issues with the HDD in the SA of the drive but it is being seen by bios. It also could be an issue with the power supply and the PCB too. Hangs on post can mean different things.
They and take this off your PC where it is attached, hook it up to USB and see if you can read the drive with another computer. If you can try and supply a terminal report if you can read it from another sytem. That can help to determine more of what your problem is on this one.

To eliminate your OS as an issue, configure your BIOS so that your CD/DVD precedes your HD in the boot order. Then boot to the Recovery Console on your Windows CD, or to a Linux CD, eg Ubuntu Live. If your machine still hangs during the POST, then there will be a hardware issue with the drive, or perhaps the PSU or RAM.

try drive on another computer simple if same problem download mhdd and check the ata status register. if drive stays busy then its time to buy a new one and trash this.

i think you will need some expensive tools to make that disk.

Try LBA 0 solution for 7200.11 as detailed in previous posts. This will solve constant busy problem on 7200.12. Worst case: it won't work.
