unlock Western Digital WD3000JB

June 7th, 2010, 3:20

so here's the whole story

i have a Western Digital WD3000JB 300GB hard drive that I use on my XBOX 1. today, i tried messing with a tool to change the XBOX's mac address, and to do so i had to unlock the harddrive and then lock it, but i forgot to lock it. when i turned on my xbox and turned it back on, i got an error, so then i tried to lock it from my pc using the hdlock.exe program for xboxs. when the program was running, the xbox happened to turn off and on, but i didnt restart the program, and tried flashing anyways (i'm positive i entered the right code). however, something must have gone wrong, as my xbox was giving the error code of not being able to unlock.

i tried plugging it into my computer and tried using atapwd or w/e, and i used the user unlock function with the password i had typed for it, didnt work. i then tried using the master passwords i had found (the WDCWDCWDC etc one and XBOXSCENE), neither of which worked. i tried using all spaces, didnt work.

I then tried using HDD Unlock (hddunlock.com), but it couldn't do anything with my drive. I then tried using MHDD using the wdpwd script i was instructed to make, and it gave me the No DRQ error. help?

in conclusion, i'm trying to unlock my drive without knowing the master password nor the user password. i don't care about the files, as I can easily reconstruct the harddrive once I get access to it, so a program that erases everything is fine, as long as it unlocks
