Easyrecovery.ie/co.uk experience, anyone?

Good day y'all.

Found this company called EasyRecovery based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. They are a lot cheaper than other DR companies that I've found - £249.99+vat is what they charge. This is half the price they're normally charging and they have reduced the price due to the current financial recession, so they claim. Is this just a permanent "enticing offer", or have anyone ever been charged the full £499.99?

What I basically want to know is whether this company is serious or not.

Any experiences? Is this offer too good to be true?

Always beware of:

1) Anybody who has had a half-price offer for the past 5 years

2) Anybody who charges hidden costs such as "re-assembly" fees

3) Anybody who sells ink-cartridges or IT training - they are not specialists in Data Recovery and you are risking your chances of a successful recovery.

Based on experience with this company, I would send my drive elsewhere, but that is just my opinion.

I would also say beware of anyone who offers flat rate recovery regardless of what the actual problem with the drive is.

Agree with all above, but our AVERAGE recovery fee is £249 + VAT.

All cases judged on their own merits, and free quotes on unopened drives.

That's fine when you are transparent and honest Sean, but what I don't agree with is when a company quotes fixed rates of £249 without even inspecting the drive. Parts for some jobs cost us that much.

I've had experience of this company jacking up the price for extras such as "it has to go to a cleanroom in the UK, it will be another £300" or "drive re-assembly fee". Ever heard of such nonsense?? If you haven't got cleanroom facilities, you don't deserve to call yourself a DR company. It doesn't have to be Intel style, but this bullshit of sending to a cleanroom elsewhere is totally dishonest.

We had a customer who was charged £150 drive re-assembly fee and £33 for regular postal return.

Not directed at you as you have different flat rates depending on the different levels of drive issue...

These guys just say £249 for every case regardless of whether it is logical or physical, one bad sector at the beginning of the drive or WD5000KS with stuck spindle. In my experience such companies don't actually perform the tough jobs but pretend to "outsource" them to another lab which is actually the same company but carries extra costs of £1000+ (like the Rapid Data and Fields scam)

So let me revise my statement from not trusting companies with flat rates to not trusting companies with a SINGLE flat rate for any possible repair.

Thank you guys. Even though there was nobody sharing their experiences with this firm (because nobody here is seemingly that stupid ), I'm convinced that I will not trust this firm with the handling of my precious data.
