Western Digital WD2500JB recovery

Hello,

Hope you are all well.

I have a Western Digital WD2500JB hard disk which was originally inside an external enclosure but which I've taken out since and put into a new enclosure.

The problem is a clicking sound... the hard disk powers up, clicks 3 times then powers down. This happens again but I've not let it run long enough as I'm worried something else will go wrong.

I'm not sure what the exact problem is... I've searched this forum and many others using google but can't seem to find a solution. I can't neither afford nor do I want my personal information on the drive to be in the hands of any third party.

Although I'm not much of a hardware man, I've tried to look on the internet for similar hard disks although cannot find one with the exact same PCB board (assuming this is the problem).

Please help!

You could have caused some damage to the drive while removing it.
There is a possibility of PCB failure, but it has to be diagnosed by a pro.

Sorry I forgot to mention that the clicking sound started when it was in it's original enclosure, which was the reason why I removed it from there in the first place, thinking it may have been a power supply problem with the casing.

If you need your data, start looking for a pro or move on with your life.
