PCB needed for Western Digital WD4000AAKS-00A7B0

I need PCB# 2060-701537-003 REV A for my 400G WD hard drive WD4000AAKS-00A7B0

Hard Drive details:

Can anyody tell me where can I find PCB to replace on my existing drive?

Long Story -
The drive was in external enclosure which was powered with external 12V DC power supply.
By mistake, I connect 19V laptop power supply which burned some components on PCB.
Even with powered with ober voltahe, derive was working for over 30 minutes before component burned.

Use a multimeter on the 200 ohms range to measure the resistances of R64 and D4 near the SATA power connector:

D4 will probably be shorted, and R64 will probably be open.

If you are lucky, and if there is no further damage, you can remove diode D4, and replace R64 with a 2A picofuse or a piece of wire. Just be careful, as your drive will no longer have overvoltage protection on the +12V supply.

Thanks a lot for this information.
I will take this drive to my lab and open PCB. I am electronics engineer and I have full access to electronics/hardware lab.
I can replace burned component on PCB if I can locate one. Information you provided is definately helpful.

Thanks for your reply. I will take put PCB and take a look for burned diods.
From photos, it looks easy to replace diods and other burned parts on that board.
Will update you guys with result.

You can substitute the diode with an SMBJ12A from Mouser or Digikey.

If you would like to replace the zero ohm resistor with a 2A fuse, here is an smt type that is used in Hitachi drives.

test PCB before attach hard drive. otherwise your head take risk. good luck.

fzabkar, Thanks for advise. I removed the burned diode and drive started working again.
The first thing I did was taken the backup of data on the drive.

Unfortunately I damaged pad while taking diode off and cleaning up that tough solder. So I can not put another diode (SMBJ12A) there. I won’t use that drive for any important stuff.

You can solder a leaded 12V TVS diode directly across the power pins at the SATA connector. A P6KE15A looks like a suitable candidate.

Connect the striped end of the diode to +12V, and the other end to Ground.

Hello
try to find any 1537 PCB then upload the donor ROM to access hdd firmware area. this hdd original model is 500gb and 640 GB . your hdd has one head cut .
connect 1537 PCB to safe mode then upload donor ROM then connect it to your hdd.
try to find ROM then disable all head only open head 0 and 1 then power reset.
it will give you access to firmware area then download firmware and regenerate ROM. no need to find 100% matching PCB.

it is possible that you hdd has head 0 cut , in that case open head 1 and 2 to get access to firmware area.
