June 17th, 2010, 12:13

Just did 2 of them. And all i can say is god DAMNED parking stoper. Did they do it on purpose? Bad enough in this family if 1 head is dead drive might not even ID for u without song and dance in rom. Now this ? I hate em.

Feeling better now. Ty.

I retract my previos statement. Stoper had nothing to do with it. Incompatibility did though. All in all - easy swap.

What is "song and dance in ROM"? Tweak of Micro Tuning maybe? What was date code? what was incompatibility? So where you successful? I have been collecting 5000KS, (4) now. Analyzing mechanism of damage. Mostly G force causes loss of micro tuning. Nothing like cutting your teeth on diamonds. :-). PM if you like. Also, I am writhing a white paper on hdd details, internals, and advanced data recovery concepts. Nice to know you share my opinion on 5000KS.
