Help me Please!! Samsung S2 Portable 500GB

June 20th, 2010, 20:32

:!: Hi About 1 year ago I bought a samsung s2 portable 500 gb. It has worked fine until yesterday. It slipped down from where it was laying (while plugged in and running) and was hanging the 20 cm usb-cabel. Now I can't get it alive. When I plug in the usb-cabel a spinning noise appears and lasts for about 18 seconds (SOUND ONLINE ON http://www.tindeck.com/listen/mhlg), the led don't turn on, and my pc can´t detect it. The disk is not showing up in windows and bios (at least not in the list over boot devices). Can anything be done to save the disk and/or its content?

How can this HD be open ?

I try to give some shocks to the HD in the start up phase ... maybe I can by luck push back the out of space/range meccanical part into a workable position ...but doen´t work.

Some idea? Please I need my 460gb of information

shocking this drive is the wrong thing to do. You might not be lucky on this one and if you do not understand all this you should look for a DR company to examine this drive and tell you the best way to go about getting off your data on it. If you can not even open this enclousre then you might be in trouble on this one. Stop hitting it and shocking it and pushing on it you can only do more damage and this can cause the heads to touch the platter, scratch it, stick on it or all kinds of other thngs. It is your drive and your data do as you want on this one but shocking it is not going to get back your data for sure.
