Serial 3JV28***
Was trying to setup dual boot of Windows 7 and Linux Ubuntu. Lost the ability to reformat and install Windows.
Under the Windows 7 setup I create one full partition and Windows creates a 100 mb partition. But the strange issue is I also get one extra partition of size 0 for each partition Windows creates.
There could be an issue with Grub being on the drive, but I am new to Linux and quite lost.
The second issue is if I try and load Windows 7 I get an error code "failed to format 0x80070057".
I have confirmed this issue on two machines.
I tried formatting one partion as NTFS in Gparted and it seemed to work, but upon trying to load Windows I get the same error.
Now I have also disabled my Jmicron controller on the MB to get Linux to install on another drive. However I tried enabling it and get the same result on the problem drive.
MHDD sees the drive ID and during a scan it seemed to be reading and generating a lot of delays and errors. I stopped the scan and I am doing a fast erase now.
I am reluctant to try anything else with MHDD, I am new here too. Physically there seem to be no noises or anything suspect.
Any ideas or workflow I should follow?
Thanks in advance.

Update: Erase is completed. Scanning now and again I am getting many green S errors and some red x errors.

Drive needs a special procedure for surface repair but you need special equipment to do it. Ask a pro near you to do it - they know what to do and cost is low - or replace the drive as it is worn out, probably.
