Trying to find Female RS232 Socket Pins in the UK

July 16th, 2010, 9:20

I have a strictly for-fun DIY DR project on the go but I'm not sure where to obtain components for connecting some wiring to the RS232 pins on the old IDE HDD I'm playing around with.

This US site has some suitable looking bits

But alas I'm based in the UK.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Much appreciated!

K

I would suggest http://www.digikey.co.uk/

Or (assuming you only need something to have a good connection with the HDD), this would be even better (and cheaper!):

Enjoy! :)

1. Maplin (http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=97735)
2. R.S
3. Farnel

But if your looking for something a bit more local , try a car boot sale/ scrap shop , look for old cables or old equipment, if in a major city there will be a number of electronic shops. (Boots/Dixons)
