After restart a lot of files became invalid.Mp3 are not playable pictures are not loading. Here comes the weirdest part - file sizes remains correct.Seems like some sort of software problem,Im able to copy files from this external hdd no problem but they are still scrambled.Any good tool that can fix this?Like some sort of file allocation table magic utility?=)

I entered this thread expecting that you had developed a crush on a Maxtor HDD, intrigued I entered.
What a let down...!
Have you ran Chkdsk, or allowed Chkdsk to run? If not, please don't, as you will further complicate issues. Is there any chance of a sample file, it may help to determine the problem.
It is unlikely to have anything to do with the FAT, but that can't be ruled out until we have something more to work on.

Thanks granaryloaf!
I ran chkdisk after i plugged/unplugged the external. It kept getting stuck at some point so i run it under safe mode.Windows 7 here by the way.
And now that we determined my English knowledge level we can proceed further!=)Here is an example of scrambled file (mp3+jpg in one archive)
****wait a sec....
Oh me oh my.After being unplugged for some time and plugged back in at least some files in one very dear to me (not porn!) folder became normal again! (I determine that solely on the fact of bitrate value presence in windows explorer. All scrambled files have no bitrate,i presume as in "can not be read correctly" so i use that as indicator)
Hold on.Copying vital stuff at the moment. Please stay on the line your call is important to us =)
