BAD Caviar WD6400AAKS

August 2nd, 2010, 8:52

Hello,
I have an external Caviar 640 Gb.
Unfortunatly my son plugged the wrong AC Adapter (15 V instead of 12 V) and the drive is not working anymore. I red that changing the PCB wan't help since I have to recover the firmware, but it is impossible to access the drive. Is there any way to repair it or at the least to recover the data inside ?

Thanks

check 5V & 12V diode. may be some one short there. if so just remove it. also even PCB damaged much. we can take good PCB and rebuild ROM data into good PCB for recovery data. :)

Italians DO IT BETTER quicker and it's not necessary to send drives abroad... :D
