Plugged incorrect power cable into WD My Book. Help!

August 8th, 2010, 15:49

Ok so I accidentally plugged my asrock power cable into the My Book. So it fried it. I tried a similar pcb and that gave power to the drive but no data access.

So I now need a recommendation on where I can send it for a pro to fix it. I think the drive itself is fine, just the pcb is borked.

I'm in the uk, can anyone help recommend a reputable pro and give me an idea what I need to pay? The data is pics of my kids and home movies that I'd like to keep.

Thanks,

Rob.

just simple swap PCB won't help at all for WD. swap PCB need swap ROM chip or transfer FW from bad PCB to good one. what model of your PCB? would you like to post pic here?
