Hi to all!
Four heads, is one bad (0-good, 1-good, 2-good, 3-BAD)
How do I get the most files without changing the heads?
Thanks!

75% clone is easily achieved with 3 good heads. I find it hard to believe that considering how long these Marvel WD's have been around, and as you have been here in the forum for such a long time, that you have not worked with such a case.

I agree partially because this answer is valid
only if disk is correctly identified and accessible. In most situations even a single bad head can prevent the disk from proper initilisation and will instead stop spindle preventing access.
Sempre did not give enough detail on the symptoms to get a valid and relevant answer. Any detailed answers would have been based on guesswork, and likely have not been accurate.
I am pleased my vague answer helped though

Disable bad head in ROM will init disk with 3 heads instead of 4. Zones will change sizes, and H0 will read only for several thousand sectors, then at time of head switching, all sectors will be inaccessible.
ROM head map is not the way, unless of course SA modules need to be read for Smart HotSwap.

My apologies. What i should have wrote was RAM head editing.

Without head 3 your data will not be that great due to the way data is written to the drive, especially if the client is looking for larger files. Most likely you will need to swap out the heads once you get the other 3 heads read in to get a much better recovery.
