Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi guys,
I've fried the ''Smooth L7251 2.2'' controller chip on my hard drives PCB, it's completely dead.
I urgently need to recover my data off the drive - I've been searching for a matching PCB but am out of luck, would a matching PCB replacement allow me to recover the data though?
I have no idea what to do
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello Shaun.
2061-701537-E00 is the PCB u need. There is an outfit in england (i think ) that sells PCBs and does rom transfers for cheap ( 10$ ) Ill look up their name and give it to u in the edit =)
The problem is that ( i think ) ur drive has the rom data in MCU... Also damage to smooth can kill the preamplifier in in head stack assembly. In that even price will go up dramaticly.

Do they ship internationally? Thanks.

"One PCB solution" i think is the name , they will ship anywhere , but it seems that they deal with Seagate and Maxtor drives only. Try contacting em and ask. Sry i took so long to edit

What do I need to do, would I have to post the PCB or hard drive to China?
Thanks for the help guys.

Rom is in MCU, you are wasting your time, send it to data recovery company before you say bye bye my precious. You will regret it.

Thanks, that really helps.
Any that won't cost an absolute fortune? I've emailed a few places - but they're too expensive.

The world is not limited to Aus and express couriers work everywhere : consider crossing the borders
