Hello
I'm on the market for a Imager Hardware. I'm in doubt between Atola Imager ou DDI.
I need a neutral opinion and preferential of people who have already use them: what's the best? What's the diferences between them? Does the diference of money worth it?
Thank You

That review is not entirely accurate; there have already been some marked improvements to the Atola since then.
Ignore ECC is now added
Disable read look-ahead
skip "x" number of sectors is present...it is not mapped to a "key" but is automatic, the technician sets the parameters for each pass before starting the imaging operation. These parameters can be changed on the fly at any time during the imaging process.
timeouts are set the same way as mentioned above.
Image by Selective heads is added for Modern Seagates (More to come in the future)
There is a visible sector map, it is just presented differently on Atola.
you can wipe the desination drive sector by sector by using the "prepare desination" option.
"live sector view" and "time to read sectors oscilloscope" seem to be the same thing.

I would update the review, but I borrowed the imager in order to do the initial review. If someone wants to send me another system to update my review, I'd be more than happy to do so.

Unless this has been changed, this feature is only available in the full Atola Insight version of the software.

They are not the same. Seeing the hex and ascii contents of a sector is signicantly different than seeing a graph of how long it takes to read a sector.

So, and what do you recommend?

What about adding DCK to the mix?

DCK, it's more expensive. DC is cheaper, but slower.

I can not comment on the Atola as I do not have one. I do however own a DDI and I am very happy with it.
