Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi everyone
Sorry - I am new to this and hope this is not a stupid question.
I have a Samsung SP1614N with 3 bad sectors
I have replaced the drive and restored all the files so I could just discard the drive.
But it has only 3 bad sectors and it doesn't look like it's getting worse. So I would like to just remap them
and use it, maybe for media files I don't care so much about.
I have used the HUTIL from Samsung to "low level format" the drive. This said the drive was OK.
But it's not! I still see the bad sectors if I scan the drive. I use a backup tool called DIXML which reads sector by sector and it still sees the bad sectors. So this is not good for me.
How do I get the drive to remap the three bad sectors so my backup tool no longer sees them?
Thanks!

Sell it on your favourite auction site. somebody could use it for parts or repair it if they got the right tools. You are lucky to copied the data off- so you can get a few bob back and call it quits.
Dont forget to erase it before selling it.

Send me the drive with 5 pounds and prepaid shipment and it will come back like brand new, if you want with the 'km meter' reset, also.

Hahaah- i never realised you actually did work for 5 pounds. Strange of you. If i could i would pay him 10£ for the drive. but couldn't be asked.

I do mass repair so 1 more 1 less... The offer is valid 24 hours

Thanks for all the helpful (-ly intended) advice...
An answer, for those interested:
I found the hacked HUTIL here* and ran the long test with defect free.
The three bad sectors are now remapped and the rest of the drive checks out fine at present.
I guess it won't last for ever, but then HDDs don't

* Serious thanks to the people who put that up - good work.
