Toshiba MK3252GSX

October 10th, 2010, 20:56

hello, im trying to give a low use to this hdd but im not getting any luck.
im using it under usb 2.0 but it seems it has some problems over mbr
can create any partition on it, even diskpart crashs when i try to get any detail of it.
so ive tried wipe tool, and low level format.
both give me errors occuring at offsets (all of them)..
any ideas?

anyone? ive been able to format the disk as intern. ive installed win7 and use it, no problem on it.
but when i try to use it as extern disk i get mbr problems. cyclic redundancy thing.
i still get offset errors from LLF and WIPE.
SMART warns me about it, but ive should be able to mount it as extern..
ideas?

Probably your usb case is bad. If the disk internally works, can be the exterior component....

Check smart and tell us what it says.

It could just be allot of bad sector and the hdd stops responding because of this. Its not fixable with free software tools.

Yes, SMART warns me about it (Backup and Replace), but still let me use it as intern.
What non-free software can fix it?

A non-free HARDWARE, maybe. Or a non-free HUMAN BEING
