i typed clean instead of clean [all] i read on microsooft site that
clean [all]
Use the clean command to remove partition or volume formatting from the current in-focus disk by zeroing sectors. By default, only the MBR or GPT partitioning information and any hidden sector information on MBR disks is overwritten. If you specify the all parameter, each and every sector can be zeroed, and all data that is contained on the drive can be deleted.
so is there any way to get my data back plz help me

clean only clears the first sector (MBR/Partition table) so any of the standard data recovery tools (or manual recreating of it) will be able to get the partition(s) and data back.
clean all (which takes a lot longer) clears everything and no way to recover

Hey guru people,
Sorry to bump an old thread, but Google brought this one up, and I figured I might as well stick to it since it somewhat describes my problem.
I accidentally used diskpart clean and POSSIBLY format (regrettably not sure) on an external HDD containing a single TrueCrypt encrypted volume. Consequently, Windows told me I had to format the relevant drive before I could use it (which makes me thing it just did the clean thingy and no format). Also at no point did anything take more than an instant to complete so I figure nothing is likely to have been overwritten.
Any ways of recovering the encrypted partition? I still have the key, and I haven't touched the device since.
Thank you very much!
Best regards

I gave up on it. Best of luck to anyone with the same problem.

Hi! i have 1tb external hard disk seagate and sandisk 4gb which is connected to my computer..when i was trying to create booting disk from 4gb sandisk by using diskpart command...i did a mistake by not choosing sandisk instead i had selected 1tb seagate...it's just wiped out everything after i used below commands..
A. Make a bootable flash drive by opening a Command Prompt, 'Run as Administrator', to run these commands:
diskpart
select disk 2 ('list disk' to determine number)
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
format fs=fat32
assign
exit
after that i realised that i have selected a wrong disk and when i checked the disk it was not accessible there was no other go i did quick reformated as ntfs to access the 1tb...currently i did not add any files to that 1tb nor over written any document..need help in recovering all my data pls help...

I had a similar problem my external hardrive had 2 partitions I wanted to install windows8 in 1 partition when I gave "clean" command in diskpart from that particular partition my full hardrive become raw, to read it computer was asking to format the same as it was showing as a raw drive. I was really worried as I had almost 200 GB of files photos etc.
I did some checking and got the solution- you have to download software "Partition Find and Mount" run a scan it will detect the partion1. After which you have to Mount As - it will ask for the driver letter. It will open the external drive in a windows explorer with drive letter given by you, it will have all the files and folder. Now you have to copy the files to your hard drive or any other external hard drive. After which you can reformat the drive and recopy the files.
"hope this will help am not a guru"
