Maxtor HDD is not detected

November 15th, 2010, 10:28

Hello Sir,

I have a Maxtor HDD 40GB, the details are as follows: -

Model: - 4D040H2
HDA: - 22A
PCBA: - 03A
Unique: - 23A
Code: - DAH017K0

when I barely connect to this hard disk on my PC It shows 0MB in BIOS very slow (Note: - No other IDE drive is connected at that time) and gives repetitive ticking sound comes out from it.
On searching this problem on internet, it seems "firmware related issue". How can I repair my HDD back. Is there any Firmware related problem? How can I install Firmware from CD ROM.
Please help me in this regard.
I will be very thankful to you?

I am sorry to say if you are having issues on this drive it takes special tool and knowledge to fix it. You can do this with tool from Salvation Data called HD Doctor for Maxtor, or you can also do this with the UDMA PC3K from ACE. FW does not come on a CD and can not be flashed via the CD ROM like a Cell phone. You have two options on this drive now. One is to send it to a DR company who owns these tools and works on these drives. Two is to invest in these tool learn how this drive works and functions and fix it yourself. Without the proper tools on this one there is not a lot you can do on your own. Sorry to have to say this one to you.
