Seagate Momentus 5400.6 ST9250315AS - 0mb - Firmware Update?

November 21st, 2010, 18:41

Hi guys,
I've seen this error around alot lately.
Drive doesn't show up with drive letter, drive manager shows a 0mb non initialised disk, and when I try to initialise I get the incorrect function message.
I've used a plethora of different drive fixing tools with no luck
The only answer that I've gotten so far is that a firmware update may fix the problem. Now I just need to find one of these updates - anyone got any ideas where I can get one? Seagate, of course, doesn't have any.

Sorry to ask a question with my first post - hopefully I'll be able to give back to the community soon

Firmware update will not fix the problem
it would be better to RMA the drive

My intention is to get the data recovered however - I'm not that fussed about the drive itself.
Any last ditch attempts anyone can offer?

Ok, unless I'm mistaken the terminal log requires a special input and program to be able to work? Is that correct?
Eg. PCB-3000 or that russian alternative.
Is there another way to get this log or is that it?

Part of this article will explain how to get terminal access:

Note this article is to solve a particular problem, but part of it will answer your question on how to get the terminal log.
