Should I return the new WD just for MHDD scan warnings?

November 22nd, 2010, 18:13

Just bought new internal WD10EALS 1TB Blue one

Should I return the new WD just for scan warnings?
Or are there some more exhaustive tests to run on this disk?

Mhdd scan results aren't very encouraging - should I take such a drive into usage as normal or return to seller?

WD <500ms: 14
and
Warnings: .........

I can see 5 sector's warning rows on the bottom right of the screen and don't know if there were more scrolled through during scan.

Are these warnings normal ... while I wonder, how can a warning be normal, when it concerns data storage.

(No UNC, ABRT etc errors)

I have MHDD scanned some other new HDDs and usually there hasn't been any warnings.
From MHDD FAQ I couldn't found, how serious one should be about such warnings.

<500ms is just >150ms. It could be 156ms. IMO this is not that unusual for a very large drive.

Thanks - but warnings? Aren't warning supposed to be taken seriously?
