Seagate 7200 Dropped, spins up and stops every few seconds

December 14th, 2010, 17:02

Hi all,

as I mentioned in the topic, I've got a Seagate 7200 - SD350082085 that was in an external HDD enclosure.
It has been dropped from roughly table height and now spins up and then stops. This is repeated every few seconds.
The hdd was on doing read/writes when it was dropped.

My guess is the read arm has been dislodged from the shock, but not entirely sure how to fix this.

I'm wondering if this is something I could possibly fix my self or give in and send it to the pros.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Bacteria.

Either heads or platters are dead. Either way, there is nothing for you to do for it at this point. Best send it in.
