I thought after clear p and g list, it needs a selfscan to rebuild. it also reset smart att.

It depends on the model! With some Maxtor DSP drives it is just fine - you can recover very badly damaged ones....

..and how to "clear p and g list" ? I have a problem with Maxtor 2B020H01 It seems that G-list is full - short after spin up drive motor stop - there is no recalibration..

Is this function available in MHDD?

I use it in PC3000 but i'm looking for something that can "refurbish" hard drives. More specifically SMART and P & G list.

I find it very fustrating that SMART "decides" the drive is unsafe to use looking at data it has gathered. For example, I have 600 40gb Maxtor drives I am refurbishing. Some of the drives have SMART issues at boot. Looking into what is happening I have found that the error in SMART is a seek error. This, in my understanding can be due to two things, mechanical problem or thermal widening. These drives run very hot so I assume that the drive have become hot, the metals have expanded and this effects the seek times.

I have reset the SMART error with PC3000 and no further errors have been logged.

This would say to me that someone has previously had these drives in systems will inadequate cooling. The SMART runs tests and find the drive to be on the way out when it is prefectly good.

On an environmental view I can only see this as bad.

If anyone has any information or thoughts please let me know.

I have 600 4K040H2 drives and *some* had SMART errors not all of them.

The SMART on these drives are now all reset.

So you ran a full extended SMART test and had no problems? Maybe a full media scan will show some problems? Did you check WORST case for temp value?
