WD320: Just put new PCB now getting a single click

Hey pplz,

I recently fried my PCB on my 320GB WD.

I took off the pcb, sent it to HDDZONE and got the firmware transfered and got it sent back to me.

Just attached the new PCB and the HDD spins up, gets to full speed, does one CLICK then spins down again.

It does nothing for 5 secs then tries again.

Is this a possible PCB fault?
Ive read in places this may be power related..?

Otherwise just tell me if u think i need to just get a real recovery team on to it

Windows acknowledges something has been connected, but it spins down before it can install drivers and start working..

upon professional diagnosis it was determined that the PCB had malfunctioned as there was no bootup clicks.

As the pro's determined PCB failure I went and replaced by myself rather than spending $700 on getting them to do a $80 job...

I guess the damage that caused the pcb to die also caused internal failure aswell.

This kind of issue now needs real data recovery one would say?

The so-called "professional" diagnose seems wasn't that professional as the probable preamplifier failure was not diagnosed / noticed, that was the 1st thing to do. Too easy to say "something is malfunctioning"
At this point I am curious if preamplifier is working or not or if the problem is ALSO somewhere else., but this is beyond either this forum help and user level, a thorough diagnose with pro gear is needed . I am afraid you have to ask someone else and probably YES, it's $700 +80, or at least determine (seriously, this time) what exactly is the problem.

P.S. NO you can't check preamplifier functionality with a multimeter, NO there is no terminal, NO there aren't softwares who can help.
