Hey question about Maxtor Athena

October 28th, 2005, 19:32

Hi, i have this Athena 20 gig drive
thats 2B020H1.
when it boots it has this constant clicking for about 10-15 seconds then it stops
and it says hard drive failure.. i did some research and found out
that this is because the firmware zone is messed up or something...
i tried some garbage called salvation data for my drive cuz it was free. and it didnt work .. just hung at the 4th table.

Any ideas on what i should do next? i need this data but i really dont have 1000$ to waste on it... i figure i might want to write new firmware into there. but i'm not sure how. but i see alot of files in the maxtor athena section for my model.. and i'm not sure what to use.. any little help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks
