Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi all
i am in the process of assisting a customer with a drive that has been under water for a little while due to recent floods.
i have examined the drive and found that there are some marks on the platters, i am wondering what is the best method to clean the platters, i suspect these marks are from some contamination that has entered the drive and someone has actually tried to power on the drive, a quick deeper look is showing these are not scratches.
happy to discuss via pm with anyone
thank you
