Hello all, this is my first post.

I do a couple data recoverys a month, I do not perform or attempt recoverys on drives that I know have physical damage. That said, I just use ddresue and dd for most of my recovery needs. My goal here is to speed up this process as much as I can. I listen to the myharddrivedied podcast, and Scott has mentioned that he achieves the best transfer speeds with nvidia chipset motherboards.

I was wondering if you guys have the same preference. I am going to set up a new recovery station, and am looking for a recommendation on the hardware. I would really like to have the best compatibility and transfer speeds I can get.

No, usually we use something "a li'l bit" more expensive or in-house built

P.S. what you call "recovery station" it's not "recovery" at all, it's just clone, with all the limits within.

Typically when working with bad drives your speed is not going to be limited by the PC hardware, but by the drive

If all you want to do is to clone your drives then look into getting yourself a Atola Imager, Data Compass, Deepspar, or Copy R to do this one with. They are not cheap units and you will have to invest some money into these units. This is not really DR work it is basically taking a drive with some logical problems and cloning it to a new drive. If this is all you are interested in then look into some of these imagers and go from there. But rebuilding your computer will not help to get the job done any faster on this one.

What Scott said, probably was that DDI works better with a Nvidia Chipset Board.
Not dd_rescue or others....

If you want a faster, better imager you have to pay for it. Newbies don't seem to get this and want a free solution. DDrescue is for the birds. When a customer tells me they tried something with Scotts videos I double my price.
