Iphone 16GB Apple Screen Hang

March 1st, 2011, 13:42

Looking to get the messages and pictures off this for a client, It behaves like a "recovery" mode iphone responding to the power button/home button commands to switch on and off but the Apple Logo remains on startup.

The device is not important (apple just want all the bits) really just the data.

Tried irecovery with terminal on a mac but no joy, If you power it up with the home button pressed, Itunes will see it on a PC and prompt a restore. Idea is not to wipe it

any ideas bar removing nand?

thanks

andy

No Joy on this one. If you want to recover this one then normally you have to tear it apart. As you see apple does not put a screw in this one. You have to tear it apart to get to the contents on the inside of this one. In doing so you will destroy this iphone and well then have to get another one. I would try and contact Apple on this one maybe tell your client to go to the apple store near him. Apple might be able to unlock this one for him without destroying this phone.

If it is asking for restore that normally means that the Iphone is not for your computer you are putting it on. When you move your apple iphone or ipod to another computer system and try to use it from there you can receive this message on it. Normally people who have this item take it back to Apple to get it fixed. I know one person here that has repaired them and you might want to contact him for some advice on this one. It is BlackST here who has the knowledge to fix and repair these items.

Well yes you can make some modifications to the firmware and boot loader, then get access to ssh and image the phone via dd. But of course this is not a simple quick solution. So your client better be ready to spend some $$$.
