Seagate Baracuda ST3500320AS

March 21st, 2011, 14:04

Hi,

I need some help, I ran out of ideas.
Recently my Seagate Baracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS HDD doens`t show up in bios. HDD spins up but nothing happend, no strange noise, just sound like the disk is accessed and nothing else. I presumed that the PCB is foulty, order one from driverstar, got it and have ROM CHIP replaced with the one from my old HDD.
Still nothing, I hocked up the HDD to a external USB SATA adapter.
Now I get the opposite sound (only sound not taskbar message) like:
1. when i plug in the hdd sound like UNPLUG NEW HARDWARE
2. when HDD is unpluged, sound like NEW HARDWARE FOUND
Remember, no info(message) popup in taskbar.

Device manager -> Disk Management -> nothing.
BIOS -> still nothing

Is there any hope to save the HDD and data stored in? :cry: :cry: :?

Thanks

Your drive may have fallen victim to the 7200.11 BSY bug.

See this thread for a DIY fix:

See the following bulletin for an explanation of the BSY bug.
