Samsung HD160JJ/P Clicking

March 28th, 2011, 6:51

Morning Gurus, hope you may be able to assist.

Have a Samsung HD160JJ/P from a customer.

Yet to test 12 and 5v diodes (look fine under magnifying glass) however the drive spins up, clicks 4 times and spins down.

Issue was a power surge to the Tower System the drive was housed in.

Initial thoughts were the diodes however the drive spins.

Awaiting my multimeter to be returned so any thoughts greatly appreciated with this.

Pre amp on heads blown?

TIA

Best

Freddie.

Internal problem as the strike went beyond the input stage of these DELPHI puppies...

Should see the drive even without the fried pcb, otherwise it's just guessing and I don't guess.
Diagnose with the right stuff takes a little time.
