Western Disgital 2TB recovery help please

Hi guys I am using testdisk thanks, I need a walkthru please if anyone can.

PC
WIN 7
x58 ud5r mobo
i7930 CPU
2 x Western Digital storage drives being I drive and F drive allocated (now unallocated)
Op system on 60GB SSD

The above WD drives last night disappeared from my computer however i have hard drive inspector which displays then as 100% ok and they are also displayed as unallocated in Disk management. I want to recover the data from these drives as they have family pics and media on them.

The drives are spinning and sound normal ie no clicking etc.

Could someone guide me through recovering media from them i would very much appreciate it. I can also skype someone if that helps.

So far I have scanned drive with testdisk and it tells me HD is ok Wayne. the screenshot posted is where I am at with Test Disk I have only analysed and the drive shows as you can see as 200gb correct, and 1863gb used which would be correct. If someone can just advise me what to do next as I dont want to stuff this up. Thanks in advance wayne

Is that better than doing it this way? can ypou recommend one then please. Even if its payware.

If the file system is undamaged, you could use PF&M to mount the partition and view your files.

If you can see your files, then I would back them up. Afterwards you could use TestDisk to make the changes to your drive.

I can see the drive in bios and disk management, in DM it is showing as unallocated space and would no doubt want me to format it which is the last thing I want. would the software you said help in this regard?

"Unallocated" means that the partition table is missing.

PF&M (freeware) will not write on your drive, so give it a go.

Stop - if you want your data image it first. Then you can try any software on it you want. The best one for you might be get data back NTSF on this one. But before you go much further on this one I would image it to another HDD first. It is not a good practice to run any softare on a failing drive or a drive with problems on it. You can also try R-Studio on this one too.

It is your drive and your data. I told you to image it first then use what ever software you wish on this one. The more you work on it in this condition the less your chance will be to get back your data. If you wish to continue on with DIY then please do but image it first. If you do not want to take good advice and want to keep uising free software there is nothing more I can say to you on this one. Sorry but it is your drive and your data and I gave you good advise on this one. Image your HDD.

It may help people reading this thread to understand your situation better, if you explain the things which you are not currently telling us.

2 disks don't both disappear from "My Computer" (and show as "unallocated") without the person using the computer, doing something unusual which has affected both disks... So what happened, between the disks being recognised normally, and the situation you describe where both are now showing as "unallocated" space?
