Fujitsu MHT2080AT clicking

April 3rd, 2011, 20:22

I'm helping a client with a Fujitsu MHT2080AT that's died.
It spins up and was detected briefly as a 2GB drive before it started clicking. It still spins up now but is not detected.

Are there vendors near San Jose CA that could get me a quick quote on a repair?

Here's all the info from the drive
Model: MHT2080AT ID: YTTN
Part No: CA06297-B20800AP
Serial No: NN4CT3B14CEV

Sorry to say a quick quote is hard to do but from sound of it and what you say you are looking at head swap, could be some internal problems but you did say it was recognized for a brief second. Check here for thatdellguy he is in California but not sure how close to you on this one. You might want to send him a PM. But stop turning on this HDD before you do more damage. These are known for bad heads, sectors and other things on these drives. I would not turn it on again if I were you.

Thanks for the reply, kinda figured a quick quote would be impossible... a general price range would be nice to know though. I'll PM thatdellguy.

I stopped messing with the drive as soon as I knew it was more than logical issues.
