WD 1 TB My Book cannot not be accessed on my computer.

Ok here is my problem.

Recently the usb port on my external WD My Book fell off. So I have no way to access the data except by opening it and connecting it with the right cables. WD allowed me to take the hard drive out of the case to try to recover my data.

When I plug it in, the noises are all correct and it shows up as "WDC WD10 EADS-11M2B1 USB Device" under Disk drives in Device Manager. There is also a "Safely remove hardware" icon that pops up like usual. But I can't find a place to access the hard drive... It is not showing up under "My Computer" and "Computer Management".

Please help!!

Correction: It is being recognized in the Device Manager and Disk Management.

Most likely ur My Book had controller level encryption. U need the enclosure to get access to the data... Should be easy to reconnect the port.

As Alexii says, if the USB-SATA bridge board has an Initio INIC-1607E chip, then the data will be encrypted.
