Hitachi HTS541080G95A00 firmware/RES problem

April 28th, 2011, 2:51

Hi Folks,

I have an Hitachi HTS541080G95A00 which i try to save the data without success.
First i tried to work with Salvation Data HD Doctor for Hitachi, the hdd state move to Ready after power on but when i try to load from HDD, it fails and show the error status.
I tried to read the firmware modules and mots of them failed, it managed to read only the last 3 out of the list.
I tried to move the PCB and move to safe mode and read from SA-C but also all modules reads failed.
When i go to view sector they are all 6666.
The NVRAM seems to be fine, i managed to read and edit it.

Then i tried Salvation Data Data compass, and it starts in Ready mode but when i enable UDMA or Read mode, it shows error.
Any help will be highly appreciated, and also the firmware will be good to have, although i am not sure that i can write it.
Also the RES file which i can use to download from file in HD doctor will be very good to have.

Thanks & Cheers,
Oded

Listening to the sounds would be good in your case.
When you power on, do you ear the heads moving or simply power and goes into ready right away?

I think you could be limited to what you can do with the tools you have. It sounds likely that you could have a failure of the heads but a full diagnosis is required before you continue.

Hi Guys, thanks for the answers.

Regarding the noise, it takes few seconds until it change state from busy to ready, it seems like there is power, but i am not sure if the heads are running properly.

Regarding the second answer: how can i diagnose it properly, which tools can do the job?

Cheers,
Oded

You would have at least to have a clean cabinet to open up the drive, and then, depending on the problem, have tools to work with firmware, or even an imaging tool.
