Need to restore a GPT and protective MBR on 3tb HDD

April 30th, 2011, 17:01

Can I do this without a wipe? It's a backup drive so I have the data but mostly remotely and in various locations, so 3TB is worth reviving without copying.

During normal operation winrar reported a CRC error and then the folder on the drive reported corruption/no longer available. On reboot the drive appeared as an unformatted RAW volume, but in perfect "health". With DiskPart I have used /FixMbr on 2TB drives, but it cries when I try that on a 3TB GPT.

What is the easiest way to rebuild the GPT data without messing with the directory tree/wiping the data?
