Your drive got overvoltage!
Possibly more than just one component are damaged, not only what you can see....
Even can be electrical damages INSIDE the clean area.
For me, replacing this VCD chip, wich is burned, is only a waste of time.
You will faced on another problem after this step.
If your data is important, i suggest you to seek for professional help.
Making a compatible PCB is not a big deal for this HDD, the price should be cheap.
If you can't find a good DR frim close to you, you can drop me a PM as well, i can help too.

Good luck,
Janos

Agree with Janos. To me there is extended damage as I see a hole in MCU too , so the probability about having damage to preamplifier and maybe something else (for this , cross fingers) is VERY VERY HIGH.
I'm sure you'll find a professional in Tokio or in Japan , if you don't mind crossing the borders in case of no joy, we are here.

if am not mistaken here, the burned chip is the Motor Chip
but the NVRAM looks OK to me (not sure)

you may try to get donor pcb, and transfer the NV-ram chip and see

good luck

The 8-pin chip at location U5 (above the Micron SDRAM) appears to be the NVRAM.

There is also an 8-pin serial flash memory at location U7, near the top left corner of the Infineon MCU.

Not yet. I couldn't find the compatible PCB.
I'm thinking to buy a used or even new model of this hard drive and replace PCB. Do you think its a good idea?

Right, but handling here in Tokyo is too expensive as I have experience many times with other electronic parts.

If I found donor PCB, is it easy to replace it? As I don't have any experience on this. What else is needed to complete replacement of PCB?
Thank you guys

Transfer the chip at U5 from patient to donor.

Before anything you have to check preamplifier otherwise it's totally useless. Same for EEprom - as there is a hole in the Mcu it can be fried too or corrupted. DON'T SWAP PCB IF PRE IS SUSPECTED TO BE FRIED OR IT'S POSSIBLE TO FRY THE NEW PCB so you have 2 broken drives...
P.S. There are people who can help near you maybe it's not so expensive (now !)

Thank you for reply. Its clear that I cant do preamplifier by myself, I will try to find where to check it...
I believe not only VCM but also some part of PCB is damaged as fire was too much. I didn't open PCB yet but other side of PCB is also might damaged. there is no spin, no motor sound or work, when I turn it on!

As I'm in Tokyo, the nearest is China, South Korea, the next is maybe Singapore or Malaysia,...
Once black light of my laptop was broken, i sent it to Thailand to repair which it coast 10X cheaper than in Japan.

If you have a digital multimeter (US$10), I can help you test for a shorted preamp.

Could you upload a photo of the underside of the PCB?
