Head 1 ERR: ABRT most of the data area only. Rest of drive good. Little at front of drive good and sporadic good sectors thru the rest of the data area.
any ideas?

Hi,
Have you already replaced heads? Is that issue after head swap or before?
Can you show terminal log to check what's happening on the background?

I guess when you say 'ERR ABRT' the HDD looses readiness and the status register shows many errors, but after repower / Hard Reset register is normal and reading continues?

Head 1 is not bad it reads sectors across the drive except for the data area. Some spots in the data area are good. Very few. Sometimes the drive looses connection and will not identify the drive, I have to power down, power up and re identify the the drive again and resume imaging but still with errors.
