Newb need HELP with Western Digital 80gb WD800JD-00LSA0

my hard drive just crashed! was working fine before shut down and when i try to turn on the computer after 2 days, it started to give out clicking noise from the hard drive and the computer can't detect the HD anymore. i can still hear it spinning but a few clicks later, it will stop spinning.

WD800JD-00LSA0
made in Malaysia, July 2005
PCB: 2060-701335-003 REV A

what can i do to recover the files from it?? will getting another pcb work for this kind of failure? but i have a hard time to find the same PCB in REV A....

any help is appricated, please help me out.... :( :(

Might be a PCB issue. Look up WD ROM swap on this forum. Might be bad heads, too.

I think your best shoot would be to seek professional help, because you might end up with a new PCB and the same problem.

These WD model drives have unique info in the ROM. So, if you really care about your data and want to successfully recover your data, then seek professional help. If not, then follow jono-ats's advice for starters.

yes, is been a total nightmare so far. :( anyway, is there a way to find out or pin point if the pcb failed or the heads? before i go ahead and order the new pcb

Not without expensive tools.

The unique way (for you) is to buy at your own risk a PCB or donor drive then ask a professional for reprogramming the new PCB from the patient AND check the patient.
But it's gonna cost you about the same of a complete recovery.
I would charge the cost of complete recovery except the donor parts (supplied by you) and time for sourcing parts, nothing more nothing less. As far as I know it is the common price standard.

In alternative, ask someone else who knows how to diagnose the PCB to analyze and eventually fix it. At present it is still unknown if it can be fixed or not.
