Did you run a detailed scan in R-Studio?

unable to open the volume because mft files is outside disk bounds

Could it be HPA?

You can diagnose the drive in Dmde which also has a repair option but make sure you back up before making changes or better still make a clone image.
Or you can use Easeus which also has tools to check partitions and carry out repairs.
Good thing, both tools are free!

This can be bad or less bad. You may have a bad head, resulting in excruciatingly slow read/write meaning 300 days to image disk etc. You also may have an SA issue.

See what TestDisk says (don't write the new partition), and see what Hard Disk Sentinel says about the bad sector count and S.M.A.R.T. errors. If there is an abundance of exceptions, dying disk.

Otherwise scan it with getdataback or UFS

i ran mhdd and it comes back there nothing wrong with the drive at all

servo no errors etc

i also ran hirens bootsdisk and this came back no issue

i did a full scan with r-studio and it came back with the files

but only the avi files showing and no yellow folder names at all of each movies

also tried getdata back no luck at all with the files

not sure why it gone like this but its screwed up with that error a corrupt mft

the drive is brand new never been dropped or any issue until now

the drive is partition to ntfs and not ufs format ??

just checked the log and it says hppf (ntfs)

anyone know what this might be

any other options

out of curiosity, were the video files listed in R-Studio scan good? Were they usable or could you do a preview?

yep files play ok i recovered about 100 avi and they play perfect.

but as they where in a yellow folder with the name of the movie

it just recovered the avi files only and not the whole folder name :(

so i think the options is to recovery everything as normal and relabel each one

its going to take some time for sure.

just a update on this weird problem it looks like mirror damaged on the drive
this would explain the mft corruptions.

media surface checks ok

but now its stays sector 209011725 read error

im doing the recovery now i have to place all my movies back in the correct folders.
up to know it doing the recovery.

seagate are crap :(
