Hitachi week...

May 26th, 2011, 17:58

Did the pros notice increase of pcb failures on 5K? This week I got many, all with electronics failure - all recovered by repairing the pcb.
Failure was in the circuit, not simple things.
Coincidence ?

All of our Hitachis lately have been heads. Haven't seen a board problem yet with the 5K, but gratsi for the heads up.

Same here really, apart from a few blown fuses.

TONS of them with bad heads and/or severe media issues.

Yes, all the other drives were with usual head problems or had physical issues but I knew that they sufferd shock, what made me think was the amount of electronics failure (not the "simple things" we know that I do not ever consider failures) , and the origin of drives was diverse (ext. box, branded ext. box, laptop etc.) and I was wondering about the failure mechanism.... Maybe it was just a simple (un)lucky coincidence.

The good was that there was an happy end in all the case, so it has been (even if it's not over yet ) a HAPPY Hitachi week... :D
