Running xp I got the blue screen of death. Trying to reboot several times, bios could not detect the WD800 main drive. Replaced drive with old one with win2k on it. Started right up, no problem with the rest of the computer. I stuck the failed drive in an external drive unit without enclosure and found that the motor was not running, no sound or vibration and no signals at the 4 motor contacts whatsoever.
Unless there is some sensor in the drive telling the electronics to shut down the motor, I'm assuming the circuit board crapped out. Is there anywhere I can get a new one?
Thinking of buying a new drive hoping it comes with a compatible version of the circuit card.
Artwork of present card is 2060-701292-002 REV A.
