hdd format issue

hello! i am using seagate baracuda 80 gb pata hdd. once i was wiping the hdd and suddenly power goes off.
after that i tried to format the hdd with all means but i was unable to format it. i tried to format it through ubuntu linux live disk but i was not able to do that also.

i then tried to attach the hdd to another computer in windows xp and tried to do something on it. the hdd is listed in computer management. but not listed in disk management console.

please help me out

Wipe it one more time with MHDD completely. Search MHDD in this forum! Then try to format it.

You are not giving any exact error messages or exact details of what you did & commands you were typing. IMHO it is difficult to understand the cause of your problem without that.

If the good suggestion from labtech is not successful, then you will need to give much more detailed information about the error messages and exactly what you were doing leading up to those error messages. For example, what is logged in dmesg at the exact time when you tried to format the drive using ubuntu? Did you partition the (partially wiped) disk first (fdisk etc.) before trying to format? How exactly were you trying to wipe the disk initially, when the power went off? Those are the type of minimum details which will help to understand your situation.
